1. Open the Contacts App on Your Smartphone

Start by finding and opening the Contacts app on your phone. This app typically has an icon resembling a person or a phonebook and is where all your phone numbers and contact information are stored.

2. Select All Contacts You Want to Backup

To select contacts, long press on one contact to activate the selection mode. After the first contact is selected, tap on the other contacts you wish to include in the backup.

3. Tap the ‘Share’ Icon to Prepare Contacts for Sharing

Look for the ‘Share’ icon, typically represented by three connected dots or an arrow, located at the top of the screen. Click this icon to share the selected contacts.

4. Choose Gmail from the App Options for Sharing

You will see options to share the .vcf file containing your contacts. Swipe through the available apps. In our example, we will choose Gmail to proceed with emailing the file.

5. Enter the Recipient’s Email in the ‘To’ Field of the New Email

You will be directed to a new email composition screen in Gmail. Here, enter the email address where you want to send the .vcf file. In our example, since we are using our first email account, we will send the file to our second email account.

6. Send the Email with the Contacts File

Tap the send icon located at the top of the screen. This will send the email with the attached .vcf file.

7. Download the .vcf File from the Received Email

Open your email account where you sent the .vcf file. Open the email you just sent, and download the .vcf file by clicking on it. This saves the file to your device or computer.

8. Open Google Drive and Press the ‘+ New’ Button in Google Drive

Once in Google Drive, find and press the ‘+ New’ button, usually located at the bottom right of the screen. This button opens a menu for adding new files or creating new folders in your Drive. 

9. Choose ‘Upload’ from the Add Options

From the menu that appears after you press the ‘+ New’, select ‘Upload’. This option allows you to browse through your device’s storage to find files you can upload to Google Drive. 

10. Select and Upload the .vcf File from Your Device

Navigate through your device to where you saved the .vcf file. Once you find the file, select it, and confirm the upload. This will transfer the file from your device to Google Drive, backing up your contacts securely in the cloud. 

11. Check Google Drive to Confirm the .vcf File is Uploaded

Finally, verify the upload by checking the contents of your Google Drive. Look for the newly uploaded .vcf file among your files. Seeing the file here confirms that your contacts are now backed up and can be accessed from any device with Google Drive.
