Send a Google Drive File as an Attachment
Follow the steps below to send a Google Drive file as an email attachment.
1. Go to Your Email Account and Start a New Email
Go to your email provider (Gmail, Outlook, etc.). In this tutorial, we will use Gmail. Click “Compose” to create a new message.
2. Click the Google Drive Icon to Add an Attachment
In the email window, click the Google Drive icon (triangle shape) to open a pop-up window with access to your Google Drive files.
3. Select a Non-Google File to Attach
Browse your Google Drive to find the file you want to attach.
Note: If you select a Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, or Forms file, it will send it as a link. Choose files like PDFs, images, or other compatible formats to send as attachments.
4. Choose “Add as Attachment” to Include It in the Email
After you select the file, click “Add as attachment” to insert it directly into your email as an attachment, not a link.
5. Add the Recipient and Message
Enter the recipient’s email address and type any necessary message in the email body. Confirm that the file is properly attached at the bottom of the email.
6. Click “Send” to Send the Email with the Attached File
Once everything is ready, click “Send” to deliver the email along with your attached file from Google Drive.
