How to Stop Receiving Shared Files on Google Drive (2024)
In this article, we will show you how to stop receiving shared files on Google Drive. Simply follow the steps below.
Stop Getting Shared Files on Google Drive
Here’s how to stop getting shared files on Google Drive:
1. Locate the Shared File in the ‘Shared with Me’ Section
On your Google Drive main page, find the ‘Shared with me’ link on the left-hand menu and click on it. This section displays all the files and documents shared with you by others.
Scroll through the list or use the search bar at the top to find the file owned by a user from whom you want to stop receiving any more files. In our example, we’re looking for ‘Collaborative Projects Overview 2024’ shared by Kath Solace.
2. Initiate Block of the Person Sharing the File
To prevent further unwanted sharing, right-click on the specific file in your list and hover over ‘Report or Block’ in the context menu. When the side menu opens, click ‘Block [name]’ to complete the process.
In our example, this means blocking Kathryn Solace who shared the “Collaborative Projects Overview 2024” with us.
3. Confirm Blocking the User
Once you click ‘Block [name]’ from the side menu, a confirmation dialog will appear. Click ‘Block’ to finalize the action and prevent the user from sharing files with you.
