How to Unshare Google Drive (Easiest Way in 2024)
In this article, we will show you how to unshare in Google Drive. Simply follow the steps below.
How to Unshare Files on Google Drive
To unshare in Google Drive, we will use an exampled document titled “Community Event Planning Guide.” Follow the steps below:
1. Open the Sharing Settings of the File You Want to Unshare
Right-click on the file you want to unshare to bring up a context menu. From this menu, hover over the “Share” option, which then reveals another “Share” option. Click on this to open the sharing settings window.
2. Remove Access for Each Person Listed in Sharing Settings
In the sharing settings window, you will see the names or email addresses of people who have access to your document. In our example, we specifically want to unshare it from Michelle Sy, so we’ll locate her name in the list.
Next to each name or email, there is a dropdown menu. Click on this menu to reveal options, then select “Remove access” to revoke their permission to the document.
3. Confirm Changes by Clicking ‘Save’ to Update Sharing Permissions
After you have removed access for all listed individuals, click the “Save” button located at the bottom of the sharing settings window. This will save your changes, officially updating the sharing permissions.
